Welcome TO THE H½

The H½ was created to honor our military, to thank them and let them know that their sacrifices are not unnoticed or taken for granted.

This course is extremely tough – to represent the efforts that our military make for us every day and often far away from their loved ones.

Thank you for your interest in this race. And thank a veteran for preserving our way of life.

Race Day: November 17th, 2018
Race starts at 10am - Registration at 8am.

Race fee: $50.00 per runner; relay $100 per team

Race fee day of race: $60.00; relay $120 per team

Want to save some dough and get some good Karma points? Bring a coat or a bag full of non perishable food and save the $10 upcharge on race day!

Please leave the dogs at home!

No wheels on course - including and especially strollers!

Find us at 400 Bantam Road, Litchfield, CT. Home of the Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27. Contact us by scrolling down to the form below or call 860.459.8596

Don't forget the food drive! All donations go to local families and are distributed through American Legion Post #27

4 water stops on course; every runner gets a ticket for a beer (age appropriate) and a hot sandwich. Stick around for the party; live music, roaring fireplace and great people!

Or download and print the mail-in form.

This race does not offer prize money. This is a bare bones race for those with the determination, grit and wherewithal to get it done; to run those 13.1 miles for your own satisfaction and to keep in the public eye the extreme nature of what it means to serve our Country. No frills, just sweat. You’ll dig deep for this course; but there will be beer.

Both the male and female 1st place finisher will have their names engraved on the perpetual trophy that will remain housed in our Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27 here in Litchfield.

By wearing a dog tag, you bring that person “with you” during the race. It may just be the motivation to get you up that hill. You keep the dog tag as an honorarium; an achievement you can be proud of.

For an additional $10, the Hillacious Half allows participants to purchase a dog tag engraved with the name of someone serving or who has served in our armed forces, perhaps currently stationed in a war zone, or a veteran close to you – a father, sister, grandfather. Dog tags are available for runners @ $10.00 each.

Supporters of the race can purchase dog tags for $20.00. All dog tags are engraved with your veteran's name and any other info you would like that we can fit onto the tag. Runner's can sign up for a tag through the registration process; non-runners can contact us (scroll down) to order.

PROCEEDS: All proceeds after race expenses are kept  in a fund for any military person or family in our general locality that needs a helping hand. Funds are only distributed through the H½; no monies are paid to any agencies such as Wounded Warrior or Disabled American Veterans.

MILE MARKERS: Each mile is marked with the name of a veteran who has or is currently serving our Country, either on U.S. soil or overseas. Thank them as you run by.

Interested in sponsoring a mile marker, having your veteran's name represent a mile? Contact us and we'll tell you how!

And special thanks to those responsible for all the successful aspects of the inaugural year: The Next Street Driving School, All Star Transportation, Litchfield Bancorp, Sportsmen's, U.S. Foods, Crystal Rock, Ian Campbell entertainer extraordinaire, our awesome volunteers and enthusiastic spectators! 2018 INFO

RELAY!!  -- We have added a relay! This will allow more runners to participate -- those who can handle 6 but not 13 hilly miles! Relay teams will have 2 runners. The timing and awards will be designated separately but we'll be celebrating at the post race party together at the end! The American Legion will be hosting not only in the downstairs but upstairs and outside as well. Plenty of room for all!

Dog tags!! -  Want a dog tag? Can't run a step? Non runners can now purchase dog tags (non runner cost for a dog tag is $20.00) -- however, to differentiate between runners dog tags and non-runners tags, the non-runners tags will be marked as "I support Veterans and the  Hillacious Half". These tags are available now as so many folks were interested in honoring a loved one through the race. Want yours right away? Email murphybeth@optimum.net.

MILE MARKER SIGNS!! - We have retired our incredible, hand carved mile marker signs from year one. We want everyone to be able to see these signs that acknowledge so many local veterans. These signs will be on display at the Expo and all day race day.

New for 2018, we are offering the ability to have your veteran represent a hillacious mile. These mile markers are 10 X 13, printed  on glossy paper encased in a plastic sleeve and are printed with the name of a veteran and of course, the mile he or she represents. For a $25.00 fee, your veteran can be represented on the course. Contact us for more information or to sign up. 860.459.8596

IMPORTANT DATES!!! RUNNER SHIRTS -- Want an official DATED, long sleeved runner shirt in a size that actually fits? Register by October 30th! Those runners that register AFTER October 30th  will receive a NON dated (yet still official) HH short sleeved T shirt, in a size that may or may not fit, WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!! The early bird gets the shirt!! Note to “snail mailers” — registration must be received by October 30th (not postmarked) to get a dated shirt!

IMPORTANT DATES!!! DOG TAGS - In order to get your dog tag around your neck for race day, orders must be received by November 1st! Orders received after that date will be mailed. Send your dog tags requests at any time (no need for registration to be open) to murphybeth@optimum.net.

WALL OF HONOR!! This wall showcases veterans, whose service means so much. We will accept any 8 x 10 photo, bio, any written tribute with or without a photo that you would like to share on our wall. Just another way to say "Thank You" and to honor our military. The Wall of Honor will be on display at our Friday night Expo (Friday, November 16th) and on race day. Contact us for more info; sleeves are $5.00 each.

FRIDAY NIGHT EXPO!! Friday night, November 16th, we will allow for early packet pickup, be displaying our Wall of Honor and our amazing mile marker signs. We will also register runners for those that just can't commit any sooner...you know who you are. Come and see us, the wall, the beautifully carved mile marker signs from our inaugural year and all our friends at the Legion from 5:00 to 7:00. Check out the gorgeous cherry HH trophy case and our perpetual trophy, showcasing our winners.

FOOD AND COAT DRIVE!! Help us help the American Legion gather non perishable food items and warm clothing for those in need. Thanksgiving comes right after our race; your donation can put food on an otherwise empty table. Drop off your donations at the Expo, or on race day,

Please contact the Hillacious Half for any questions or comments. We'd love to hear from you! Scroll down for email info!
