Welcome TO THE H½

The H½ was created to honor our military, to thank them and let them know that their sacrifices are not unnoticed or taken for granted.

This course is extremely tough – to represent the efforts that our military make for us every day and often far away from their loved ones.

Race Day: November 18th, 2017
Race starts at 10am - Registration at 8am.

Race fee: $50.00 per runner; relay ($100 per team)

Please leave the dogs at home!

No wheels on course - including and especially strollers!

Registration for 2017 is now OPEN!!

This race does not offer prize money. This is a bare bones race for those with the determination, grit and wherewithal to get it done; to run those 13.1 miles for your own satisfaction and to keep in the public eye the extreme nature of what it means to serve our Country. No frills, just sweat. You’ll dig deep for this course; but there will be beer.

Both the male and female 1st place finisher will have their names engraved on the perpetual trophy that will remain housed in our Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27 here in Litchfield.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS:

A Tribute

A Tribute

h½ is A tribute

to our local veterans.

By wearing a dog tag, you bring that person “with you” during the race. It may just be the motivation to get you up that hill. You keep the dog tag as an honorarium; an achievement you can be proud of.

For an additional $10, the Hillacious Half also allows for participants to purchase a dog tag engraved with the name of someone serving or who has served in our armed forces, perhaps currently stationed in a war zone, or a veteran close to you – a father, sister, grandfather.

All proceeds after race expenses are put in a fund for any military person or family in our general locality that needs a helping hand. Funds are only distributed through the H½; no monies are paid to any agencies such as Wounded Warrior or Disabled American Veterans.

Each mile is marked with the name of someone currently serving our Country, either on U.S. soil or overseas. Thank them as you run by.

Thank you for your interest in this race. And thank a veteran for preserving our way of life.

A huge thank you to all the exceptional runners who took part in the very first Hillacious Half Marathon! Congratulations! Wanting everyone to know that our ballpark amount raised this first year is in the area of $4,000.00. This will help MANY local veterans this year and will also enable us to cover our expenses going into 2017.  So thankful to everyone who made this happen, especially our runners and sponsors.

And special thanks to those responsible for all the successful aspects of the inaugural year: The Next Street Driving School, All Star Transportation, Litchfield Bancorp, Sportsmen's, U.S. Foods, Crystal Rock, Ian Campbell entertainer extraordinaire, our awesome volunteers and enthusiastic spectators! YOU made the race happen!

INFO 2017

NEW FOR 2017!!  -- We have added a relay! This will allow more runners to participate -- those who can handle 6 but not 13 hilly miles! Relay teams will have 2 runners. The timing and awards will be designated separately but we'll be celebrating at the post race party together at the end! The American Legion will be hosting not only in the downstairs but upstairs and outside as well. Plenty of room for all! And don't forget to stick around for the raffles!

NEW FOR 2017!!  Want a dog tag? Can't run a step? Non runners can now purchase dog tags (non runner cost for a dog tag is $20.00) -- however, to differentiate between runners dog tags and non-runners tags, the non-runners tags will be marked as "I support Veterans and the  Hillacious Half". These tags are available now as so many folks were interested in honoring a loved one through the race. Want yours right away? Email murphybeth@optimum.net.

IMPORTANT DATES!!! RUNNER SHIRTS -- Want an official DATED runner shirt in a size that actually fits? Register by October 22nd!! Those runners that register AFTER 10/22/17 will receive a grey, NON dated (yet still official) HH shirt, in a size that may or may not fit. The early bird gets the shirt!!

IMPORTANT DATES!!! DOG TAGS - In order to get your dog tag around your neck for race day, orders must be received by November 6th! Orders received after that date will be mailed. Send your dog tags requests at any time (no need for registration to be open) to murphybeth@optimum.net.

WALL OF HONOR!! You've read about the dog tags and for 2017 and each year going forward, we are taking this idea one step forward. Beginning in 2017, we will present our Wall of Honor. This wall will showcase veterans, whose service means so much. We will accept any 8x10 photo, bio, any written tribute with or without a photo that you would like to share on our wall. Just another way to say "Thank You" and to honor our military. The Wall of Honor will be on display at our Friday night Expo (Friday, November 17th) and on race day. For more info send your inquiry to murphybeth@optimum.net.

FRIDAY NIGHT EXPO!! Friday night, November 17th, we will allow for early packet pickup, be displaying our Wall of Honor and our amazing mile marker signs. We will also register runners for those that just can't commit any sooner...you know who you are. Come and see us, the wall, the beautifully carved mile marker signs and all our friends at the Legion from 5:00 to 7:00. Check out the gorgeous cherry HH trophy case and our perpetual trophy, showcasing last year's winners.

Please contact the Hillacious Half for any questions or comments. We'd love to hear from you! Scroll down for email info!
